Day 1

5am

The early start is worth it for the spectacular view of Alice Springs and the stunning surrounding landscape as you drift overhead in a hot air balloon. Watch as the outback comes to life with a kaleidoscope of colours, before enjoying a champagne breakfast.

9am

Next enjoy a 20-minute walk to ANZAC Hill, for unrivalled 360-degree views of Alice Springs and the magnificent ranges. The hill is a significant site for both local Aboriginal people, and European settlers, and home to the ANZAC Hill Memorial, dedicated to those who fought for their country.

10am

Immerse yourself in the culture, art, and history that are so important to Alice Springs at the Araluen Cultural Precinct. Here you can find seven registered Aboriginal sites and trees of significance, as well as four art galleries, the Central Australian Aviation Museum, and the Museum of Central Australia.

1pm

It’s off to the Telegraph Station, a historic museum precinct where you can learn the stories of Alice Springs. Re-energise with lunch at the onsite Trail Station Cafe.

2pm

Learn about the native flora and fauna of the outback at Desert Park. Explore three distinct habitats which accurately represent desert life, and learn more during fascinating tours and presentations.

6:30pm

Dinner time! Alice Springs has restaurants to tempt all taste buds; however, we suggest embracing the spirit of the outback by indulging in emu, kangaroo, or crocodile, with a side of native fruit and berries.

9pm

Check into your accommodation. With everything from budget campsites to luxurious resorts, Alice Springs has something to suit all visitors.

Day 2

7:30am

It’s off to the West MacDonnell Ranges today. A car will be necessary, otherwise, tours are available.

8am

Arrive at beautiful Simpsons Gap bright and early to enjoy a short walk to the waterhole, and try to spot some black-footed wallabies.

9am

Next stop: Standley Chasm! This picturesque cleft in the ranges is not only magnificent to see, but it also carries a great deal of geological and cultural significance. Indulge in the Big Chasm Brekky at the cafe.

11:30am

It’s time to experience Mother Nature’s swimming pools at the largest and deepest waterhole in Central Australia: Ellery Creek Big Hole. Enjoy a refreshing swim surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

4pm

It’s only a short drive to Glen Helen, nestled on the banks of the Finke River, and home to dramatic cliffs and a delightful waterhole.

5pm

It’s finally time to head back to Alice Springs, enjoy dinner in the town centre, and rest your head after a long day of exploring.
